Many people think that Kwaito and South African Hip Hop are the same. Why many people regard
Kwaito and Hip hop as the same music?.Kwaito is the first South African favourite music because it has been recognised since from a long time ago.South African Hip Hop has been recognised few years ago.Hip Hop music is the contemporary music in South Africa. The are many differences that separate Kwaito and South African Hip hop.The differences are as follows:

  • Kwaito is mostly played in Townships whereas Hip Hop mostly played in Suburb.

ARE MZANSI HIP HOP ARTISTS NOT GETTING ENOUGH SUPPORT?

Lack of fans and support from the media

South African hip hop is one of the music industry facing challenges due to lack of support from the media and lack of fans. There are many Mzansi (South Africa) hip hop artists who are performing well but are not getting enough support from the media. Lack of fans also  another issue facing South African Hip Hop.Is been a long time South African hip hop struggling to find enough support but still getting lack of support. This issue of lack of support emerge since from the beginning of South African Hip Hop. The problem in the media is that they frequently play American Hip Hop music than South African Hip Hop music.Another issue due to lack of fans is that South African hip hop artists are rapping in different languages. This cause confusion on other people who are unfamiliar with African languages. There are many South African talented artists who are rapping in different languages, including rappers like:
     <>
    .

  • TUKS-is one of the South African hip hop artist who rap in different languages, such as Tswana,Sotho,Zulu and English
  • HHP-he raps in Tswana,Sotho and English
  • Pro-He is well known rapping in Zulu and English
These artists i have mentioned above are doing well in their music industries but are not inspired by the media. It is effective for the South African media to support Mzansi hip hop than American hip hop.It is good to be proud of your country music before you can become proud of global music. Some people suggest that it will be more effective if South African Hip Hop artists can rap in English,so that many people around the world will be able to understand their music. This will be an advantage for them to sell their music worldwide because English is recognised almost all over the world. The are many people in South Africa who love American Hip Hop than Mzansi hip hop. This shows that South African hip hop cannot get enough fans because many people in South Africa are more interested in American hip hop music. Why Mzansi hip hop artists not getting enough support?

PIRACY TOWARDS SOUTH AFRICAN HIP HOP MUSIC(MZANSI HIP HOP)

How could we reduce piracy in South African hip hop music?
Piracy has a huge effect on South African music, particularly hip hop music.Piracy has a huge history almost everywhere in the world. It has a long history where people in the previous years were using cassette,LP record and followed by Cd's(Compact Disk)and Flash Drives. Many people are no longer buying original Cd's because they relying on copyright Cd's which cause piracy.South African hip hop is no longer growing because of piracy.South African hip hop has many talented artists and many new comers who are expecting to get enough sales, but they failed to obtain sufficient sales because of piracy.Hip hop artist record companies in South Africa loose an estimated R500 million each year to piracy.HHP(HIP HOP PANTULA),Tuks,Teagas and new comers like Tumi,L'Tido and Morale are some of the most pirated artists in South Africa. Some of the people say that piracy will exist forever on the music industries because people are buying fake Cd's. The worst part about piracy based on music is that people are buying fake Cd's which cost them less amount, for instance,R10 Cd's instead of buying the original Cd's which will cost them a reasonable amount.I'm also agree that piracy will exist forever unless if people can stop being stingy to buy original Cd's.As an South African music fan what are you saying regarding this issue of piracy?
